About Joyce Murton

I’m the sort of strange and eccentric person you tend to meet out here in the San Francisco Bay Area. You know the type: a software engineer with half a head of bright purple hair that listens to way too much electronic music and espouses bizarre theories about the meaning of life.
I spend a lot of my personal time working on personal development, trying to learn new things. I study Go, play the piano, draw, fly model airplanes, and all sorts of other things. Sometimes, I study various religious practices, especially Buddhism and Neo-Paganism.
When I’m not working, studying, or creating, I can often be found in the local Planet Granite improving my rock climbing skills, or off hiking in one of the many wonderful parks here in the Bay Area. I love the outdoors and I love to explore the world around me. I ride my bike wherever I can.
I’ve spent the majority of the last seven years doing programming and user interface development for a variety of home automation platforms. I’ve also done research projects related to swarm intelligence and autonomous vehicle control. On my own time, I like to create software versions of simple parlor games, like Set, Checkers, and the Gipf Project.
